New Flash
I admittedly don’t have as much new flash drawn up as I had planned. I really want to expand on my color work and shading - but I did not get around to drawing more concepts and couldn’t delay this newsletter any further so here’s what I’ve got 🙃 I will continue to work on ideas and upload them to my website as they are ready so keep an eye out, plus a bunch of ideas from last year that I would still love to make for you!
Eden Symposium
Last year I invested a lot of time and money into improving my craft and I wanted to share some of the things I’ve learned with you all!
Amongst various online courses and videos to keep my skills sharp, I attended my first tattoo seminar with Eden in Dallas, TX in December. I had a great time and left with a lot of knowledge that either reinforced things I already do in my practice or gave me an idea of what I need to add/improve upon. One of the major lessons was a session on “Color on Melanated Skin” from artist Adriana Hallow who is well known for their full color realism on darker skin tones. They gave so many great nuggets from how to design your tattoo with maximum contrast, picking your color palette, how to work with a mag, and even showing us how to take the best pictures of our work once it’s done. The session resonated so deeply with me because working with darker skin tones and using color is something I am passionate about doing and has been an anchor in my work for a long time. I also got to talk with other black female artists who are killing it right now (@kyaangelouink & @themadtatterjax) and we had our own lil seminar around our own experiences and challenges as well. I left feeling so full and supported, ready to go back to my studio and practice what I’d absorbed.

Here are some examples of how I have put what I’ve learned to use! From design principle to color choice to tattoo technique - these pieces came together beautifully. I am really excited to keep applying what I’ve learned and making beautiful pieces for you all along the way!

I will continue to commit to this craft and being the best artist I can be for you guys. I appreciate your trust as always and don’t take the projects we make together lightly. Thank you for being here and I hope to see you soon 🫶🏽
